✧ Charities Are Only for the Poor

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:
قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: ﴿إِنَّمَا الصَّدَقَاتُ لِلْفُقَرَاءِ ﴾فَتَلَوْتُ عَلَيْهِ الْآيَةَ قُلْتُ: الصَّدَقَاتُ كُلُّهَا لَهُمْ ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ، إِذَا وَضَعْتَ زَكَاتَكَ فِي صِنْفٍ وَاحِدٍ أَوْ صِنْفَيْنِ، أَوْ ثَلَاثَةٍ، وَلَوْ كَانَتْ كَثِيرَةً أَمَرْتُهُ أَنْ يَجْعَلَهَا فِيهِنَّ كُلِّهِنَّ
Translation
Chain of narrators
machine translationʿAbd al-Razzāq, from Ibn Jurayj, who said:
✧ I said to ʿAṭāʾ: "Indeed, charities are for the poor," and I recited the verse to him. I said: "Are all charities for them?" He said: "Yes, if you place your zakat in one category, or two, or three. If it were abundant, I would command him to distribute it among all of them."
