✧ Whoever conceals his charity

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: حُدِّثْتُ حَدِيثًا رُفِعَ إِلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ،
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَدَبَ النَّاسَ فِي الصَّدَقَةِ فَأُتِيَ، فَقِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا أَبُو جَهْمِ بْنُ حُذَيْفَةَ، وَخَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، وَعَبَّاسٌ عَمُّ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ مَنَعُوا الصَّدَقَةَ، فَقَالَ: مَا يَنْقِمُ ابْنُ جَمِيلٍ مِنَّا إِلَّا أَنَّهُ كَانَ فَقِيرًا، فَأَغْنَاهُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ، وَأَمَّا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ فَحَبَسَ أَدْرَاعَهُ وَأَعْتُدَهُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، وَأَمَّا عَبَّاسٌ عَمُّ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَهِيَ عَلَيْهِ وَمِثْلُهَا مَعَهَا
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ urged the people regarding charity, and he was approached. It was said: O Messenger of God, this is Abū Jahm b. Ḥudhayfah, Khālid b. al-Walīd, and ʿAbbās, the paternal uncle of the Messenger of God ﷺ; they have withheld charity. He said: Ibn Jamīl finds fault with us only because he was poor, and God and His Messenger enriched him. As for Khālid b. al-Walīd, he has withheld his coats of mail and his war equipment in the way of God. As for ʿAbbās, the paternal uncle of the Messenger of God ﷺ, it is due from him, and the like of it along with it.
