✧ Food for the deceased

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَالَ:

ثَلَاثٌ مِنْ عَمَلِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ: النِّيَاحَةُ، وَالطَّعَامُ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ، وَبَيْتُوتَةُ الْمَرْأَةِ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْمَيِّتِ لَيْسَتْ مِنْهُمْ

Translation

✧ Three things are from the practice of the Age of Ignorance: wailing, food for the deceased, and a woman staying overnight at the family of the deceased when she is not one of them.
