✧ The deceased is not to be followed with an incense burner

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو حَيَّةَ الثَّقَفِيُّ قَالَ:

أَوْصَى مَعْقِلُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ أَنْ لَا يَقْرَبَ قَبَسًا، يَعْنِي مِجْمَرَةً، وَلَا يُغَسَّلَ بِحَمِيمٍ، وَيُصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَ قَبْرِهِ

Translation

✧ Ma'qil b. Yasar, at his death, instructed that no firebrand, meaning an incense burner, should come near him, nor should he be washed with hot water, and that prayer be said over him at his grave.
