عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَكِيمِ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ قَالَ:
جَمَعْتُ الْقُرْآنَ فَقَرَأْتُهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنِّي أَفْرَقُ أَنْ يَطُولَ عَلَيْكَ الزَّمَانُ وَأَنْ تَمَلَّ، اقْرَأْ بِهِ فِي شَهْرٍ " قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَمِنْ شَبَابِي قَالَ: " اقْرَأْهُ فِي عِشْرِينَ " قَالَ: أَيْ رَسُولَ اللهِ، دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَشَبَابِي قَالَ: " اقْرَأْهُ فِي عَشَرَةٍ " قَالَ: أَيْ رَسُولَ اللهِ، دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي وَمِنْ شَبَابِي قَالَ: " اقْرَأْهُ فِي سَبْعٍ " قُلْتُ: أَيْ رَسُولَ اللهِ: دَعْنِي أَسْتَمْتِعْ مِنْ قُوَّتِي، فَأَبَى
Translation

machine translationʿAbd al-Razzāq, from Ibn Jurayj, who said: I heard Ibn Abī Mulaykah narrating from Yaḥyā b. Ḥakīm b. Ṣafwān, from ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀṣ, who said:
✧ I compiled the Quran and recited it in one night, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I fear that time will be long for you and that you will become weary. Recite it in a month.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and my youth.' He said: 'Recite it in twenty.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and my youth.' He said: 'Recite it in ten.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and my youth.' He said: 'Recite it in seven.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength,' but he refused.
