✧ The two Eids falling on the same day

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ عَنْ غَيْرِ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمْ،
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ اجْتَمَعَ فِي زَمَانِهِ يَوْمُ جُمُعَةٍ وَيَوْمُ فِطْرٍ أَوْ يَوْمُ جُمُعَةٍ وَأَضْحَى، فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ الْعِيدَ الْأَوَّلَ ثُمَّ خَطَبَ، فَأَذِنَ لِلْأَنْصَارِ فِي الرُّجُوعِ إِلَى الْعَوَالِي وَتَرْكِ الْجُمُعَةِ، فَلَمْ يَزَلِ الْأَمْرُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ بَعْدُ
Translation
✧ In the time of the Prophet ﷺ, a day of Jumu'ah and a day of Fitr, or a day of Jumu'ah and Adha, coincided. He prayed the first Eid with the people, then he gave the sermon, and he permitted the Ansar to return to the 'Awali and leave the Jumu'ah. The matter remained like that thereafter.
