✧ Prayer before and after the Friday prayer

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ،

أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ شُعَيْبٍ صَلَّى الْجُمُعَةَ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ عَلَى إِثْرِهَا رَكْعَتَيْنِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَنَهَاهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، وَقَالَ: أَمَّا الْإِمَامُ فَلَا، إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ فَانْقَلِبْ فَصَلِّ فِي بَيْتِكَ مَا بَدَا لَكَ، إِلَّا أَنْ تَطُوفَ، وَأَمَّا النَّاسُ فَإِنَّهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ

Translation

✧ ‘Amr b. Shu‘ayb prayed Friday prayer, then prayed two rak‘ahs immediately after it in the mosque. Ibn ‘Umar forbade him from doing that and said: “As for the imam, no. When you have prayed, go back and pray in your house as much as you like, unless you are performing tawaf. As for the people, they may pray in the mosque.”
