عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ:

كَانَ النَّاسُ يَسْتَأْذِنُونَ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ، وَيَقُولُونَ هَكَذَا، يُشِيرُ بِثَلَاثِ أَصَابِعَ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ زِيَادٌ كَثُرُوا عَلَيْهِ فَاغْتَمَّ، فَقَالَ: " مَنْ أَمْسَكَ عَلَى أَنْفِهِ فَهُوَ إِذْنُهُ

Translation

✧ The people used to seek permission during the Friday sermon and say “like this,” gesturing with three fingers. When Ziyād took charge, they crowded upon him and he became distressed, so he said: “Whoever holds his nose, that is his permission.”
