✧ The Imam Speaking on the Pulpit on Friday About Other Than Remembrance

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:
قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: أَكَانُوا يَتَوَقُّونَ أَنْ يَخْلِطُوا الْخُطْبَةَ بِشَيْءٍ إِلَّا بِذِكْرِ اللهِ تَعَالَى ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ "، قُلْتُ: أَكَانُوا يَتَشَهَّدُونَ فِي الْخُطَبِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ "، قُلْتُ: فَلِمَا سُمِّينَا الْحَامِدِينَ ؟ قَالَ: " نَقُولُ الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ "، قُلْتُ: وَالِاسْتِسْقَاءُ أَوِ الِاسْتِشْفَاءُ ؟ قَالَ: " لَا بَأْسَ
Translation
✧ I said to Ata: Were they careful not to mix the sermon with anything except the remembrance of God Almighty? He said: "Yes." I said: Did they recite the tashahhud in the sermons on Friday? He said: "Yes." I said: Then why are we called al-Hamidin? He said: "We say: Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds." I said: What about seeking rain or seeking healing? He said: "No harm."
