✧ People Sitting When the Imam Comes Out

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ:
سَأَلْتُ عَلْقَمَةَ: مَتَى يُكْرَهُ الْكَلَامُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ؟ فَقَالَ: إِذَا خَطَبَ الْإِمَامُ، أَوْ قَالَ: " إِذَا خَرَجَ الْإِمَامُ - شَكَّ - قُلْتُ: كَيْفَ تَرَى فِي الرَّجُلِ يَقْرَأُ فِي نَفْسِهِ ؟ قَالَ: " لَعَلَّ ذَلِكَ لَا يَضُرُّهُ
Translation
✧ I asked ʿAlqama: When is speech disliked on Friday? He said: When the imam delivers the sermon, or he said: When the imam comes out—he was uncertain. I said: What do you think of a man reading to himself? He said: Perhaps that does not harm him.
