Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman used to deliver the Friday sermon standing, not sitting, except in the pause between the two sermons. The first to sit was Mu'awiya. When Abd al-Malik's time came, he delivered the sermon standing, struck the pulpit with his foot, and said, 'This is the Sunnah.' Later, when it became too long for him, he sat after that.
