Translation
✧ Maslama b. ʿAbd al-Malik wrote to him: I am in a village with much wealth, people, and folk; shall I lead them in the Friday prayer though I am not a governor? He wrote back: Musʿab b. ʿUmayr asked the Messenger of God ﷺ for permission to lead the people of al-Madīnah in the Friday prayer, and he permitted him, so he led them while they were then few. If you think you should write to Hishām so that he permits you, then do so.
