✧ Voluntary prayer before and after the obligatory prayer

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ:

كَانُوا يَعُدُّونَ مِنَ السُّنَّةِ أَرْبَعًا قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ، وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَهَا قَالَ: وَكَانُوا يَرْكَعُونَ قَبْلَ الْعَصْرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَلَا يَعُدُّونَهَا مِنَ السُّنَّةِ، وَبَعْدَ الْمَغْرِبِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، وَبَعْدَ الْعِشَاءِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، وَقَبْلَ الْفَجْرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ

Translation

✧ They used to count four rak'ahs before Zuhr and two rak'ahs after it as part of the Sunnah. He said: And they used to pray two rak'ahs before 'Asr but did not count them as part of the Sunnah, and two rak'ahs after Maghrib, and two rak'ahs after 'Isha, and two rak'ahs before Fajr.
