✧ A Mouse Dying in a Jar

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:
قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: فَأْرَةٌ وَقَعَتْ فِي جَرٍّ فَمَاتَتْ فِيهِ، فَقَالَ: لَا يُتَوَضَّأُ مِنْهُ، فَإِنْ تَوَضَّأْتَ وَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ ثُمَّ صَلَّيْتَ وَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ، فَعُدْ مَا كُنْتَ فِي وَقْتٍ، قَالَ: فَإِنْ فَاتَكَ الْوَقْتُ فَعُدْ أَيْضًا، قُلْتُ: فَثَوْبِي مَسَّهُ مِنْ مَاءِ تِلْكَ الْجَرَّةِ شَيْءٌ أَغْسِلُهُ أَوْ أَرُشُّهُ ؟ قَالَ: لَا.
Translation
✧ I said to ʿAṭāʾ: A mouse fell into a jar and died in it. He said: Ablution is not performed from it. If you performed ablution without knowing, then prayed without knowing, repeat as long as you are within the time. He said: If the time has passed, still repeat. I said: If some of that jar's water touches my garment, should I wash it or sprinkle it? He said: No.
