عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:
قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: أَكُونُ بَيْنَ الرَّجُلَيْنِ، وَبَيْنَ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا فُرْجَةٌ، أَلْصَقُ بِأَحَدِهِمَا أَوْ أَعْتَدِلُ بَيْنَهُمَا ؟ قَالَ: اعْتَدِلْ بَيْنَهُمَا إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ الَّذِي بَيْنَ رُكْبَتَيْكَ مُقَارِبٌ فَالْصَقْ بَيْنَهُمَا، قُلْتُ: أَجِدُ صُفُوفًا مُقَطَّعَةً أَلَيْسَ أَحَقُّهَا أَنْ أَصِلَ الَّذِي يَلِينِي مِنْ جَمَاعَةِ النَّاسِ ؟ قَالَ: " بَلَى "
Translation
✧ I said to ʿAṭāʾ: If I am between two men, and between each of them there is a gap, should I stick to one of them or stand evenly between them? He said: Stand evenly between them, unless the one between your knees is adjacent, then stick between them. I said: I find rows broken—am I not most entitled to join the one next to me from the congregation of people? He said: “Yes.”
