machine translationʿAbd al-Razzāq informed us, from Maʿmar, from Abū Isḥāq, who said: I heard al-Barāʾ say: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

Machine translation, not reviewed

He would command a man, when he took to his bed at night, to say: "O Allah, I have submitted myself to You, I have turned my face to You, I have entrusted my affair to You, and I have rested my back upon You, out of fear and hope of You. There is no refuge and no escape from You except to You. I believe in Your Book which You have sent down, and in Your Messenger whom You have sent." If he dies that night, he dies upon the natural disposition (fiṭrah), and if he wakes in the morning, he will have attained good.
