✧ The adhan while traveling and praying in one's dwelling

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:
قُلْتُ لِنَافِعٍ: كَمْ كَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يُؤَذِّنُ فِي السَّفَرِ ؟ قَالَ: أَذَانَيْنِ إِذَا طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ أَذَّنَ بِالْأُولَى فَأَمَّا سَائِرُ الصَّلَوَاتِ فَإِقَامَةٌ، إِقَامَةٌ لِكُلِّ صَلَاةٍ، كَانَ يَقُولُ: إِنَّمَا التَّأَذِينُ لِجَيْشٍ أَوْ رَكْبِ سَفَرٍ عَلَيْهِمْ أَمِيرٌ، فَيُنَادِي بِالصَّلَاةِ لِيَجْتَمِعُوا لَهَا فَأَمَّا رَكْبٌ هَكَذَا، فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ الْإِقَامَةُ
Translation
✧ I said to Nāfiʿ: How much did Ibn ʿUmar give the adhān while traveling? He said: Two adhāns; when dawn broke, he gave the first adhān. As for the other prayers, it was an iqāmah, an iqāmah for each prayer. He used to say: The adhān is only for an army or a traveling group that has a commander, who calls to prayer so that they gather for it. As for a group like this, it is only the iqāmah.
