Translation

✧ He spent the night at Salman's observing his diligence. He said: He got up and prayed in the last part of the night, as if he did not see what he had expected. He mentioned that to him, and Salman said: Maintain these five prayers, for they are expiations for these wounds as long as no fatal blow is struck. When evening comes, people are in three categories: some have credit and no debit, some have debit and no credit, and some have neither credit nor debit. A man who seizes the darkness of night and the people's heedlessness, then stands praying until morning—that one has credit and no debit. A man who seizes the people's heedlessness and the darkness of night, then plunges headlong into sins—that one has debit and no credit. And a man who prays 'Isha then sleeps—that one has neither credit nor debit. Beware of overexertion; stick to moderation and consistency.
