Translation
✧ While she was sitting with Maymūnah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, Ibn ʿAbbās entered upon her and she said, “My dear son, why do I see you disheveled?” He replied, “Umm ʿAmmār, my hair-dresser, is menstruating.” She said, “My dear son, what does menstruation have to do with the hand?” She continued, “The Messenger of God ﷺ would enter upon me while I was lying down and menstruating—he knew that—and he would lean on her and recite the Qurʾān while leaning on her. And he would enter upon her while she was sitting and she was menstruating, and he would lean in her lap and recite the Qurʾān while leaning on her. And he would enter upon her while she was sitting and she was menstruating, and she would spread the small mat for him in his prayer place, and he would pray on it in my house. My dear son, what does menstruation have to do with the hand?”
