Translation

✧ I entered upon al-Rubayyiʿ bt. ʿAfrāʾ, and she said: Who are you? He said: I said: I am ʿAbd Allāh b. Muḥammad b. ʿAqīl b. Abī Ṭālib. She said: Who is your mother? I said: Rayṭa bt. ʿAlī—or: So-and-so daughter of ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib. She said: Welcome, O son of my sister. I said: I have come to ask you about the ablution of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to keep ties with us and visit us, and he used to perform ablution in this vessel—or: in a vessel like this one—and it was about a mudd. She said: He used to wash his hands, rinse his mouth, and sniff water into his nostrils, then he washed his face three times, then he washed his hands three times each, then he wiped his head twice, and wiped his ears, their outside and inside, and washed his feet three times.
