✧ Demolishing their churches and whether they may strike the naqus

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمِّي وَهْبُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ قَالَ:
كَتَبَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ إِلَى عُرْوَةَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ " أَنْ يَهْدِمَ الْكَنَائِسَ الَّتِي فِي أَمْصَارِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ. قَالَ: فَشَهِدْتُ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ رَكِبَ حَتَّى وَقَفَ عَلَيْهَا، ثُمَّ دَعَانِي، فَشَهِدْتُ عَلَى كِتَابِ عُمَرَ وَهَدْمِ عُرْوَةَ إِيَّاهَا، فَهَدَمَهَا
Translation
✧ Umar b. Abd al-Aziz wrote to Urwa b. Muhammad: 'Demolish the churches that are in the amsar (garrison towns) of the Muslims.' He said: I witnessed Urwa b. Muhammad ride until he stopped at them, then he called me, and I bore witness to Umar's letter and Urwa's demolition of them, and he demolished them.
