✧ Expelling the Jews from Medina

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ،
أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ أَجْلَى الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى مِنْ أَرْضِ الْحِجَازِ. وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَمَّا ظَهَرَ عَلَى خَيْبَرَ أَرَادَ إِخْرَاجَ الْيَهُودِ مِنْهَا، فَسَأَلَتِ الْيَهُودُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ؛ لِيُقِرَّهُمْ بِهَا عَلَى أَنْ يَكْفُوهُ عَمَلَهَا، وَلَهُمْ نِصْفُ الثَّمَرِ. وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: نُقِرُّكُمْ فِيهَا عَلَى ذَلِكَ مَا شِئْنَا. فَقَرُّوا بِهَا حَتَّى أَجْلَاهُمْ عُمَرُ إِلَى تَيْمَاءَ وَأَرِيحَاءَ
Translation
✧ Umar b. al-Khattab expelled the Jews and Christians from the land of the Hijaz. When the Messenger of God ﷺ conquered Khaybar, he wanted to expel the Jews from it, but the Jews asked the Messenger of God ﷺ to let them remain in it on condition that they work it and have half of the fruit. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “We will let you remain in it on that condition as long as we wish.” So they remained in it until Umar expelled them to Tayma and Ariha.
